Velvet Vom Hazak, RATI

Velvet is a red and black European Showline daughter of our Finn that we're immensely proud to have in our program. Like her Dad, she has a very sweet temperament and is wonderful with kids. She is very graceful in movement, confident, playful, and reliable. She shows an abundance of potential with her deep coloring, gorgeous expression, sound temperament, and excellent conformation. As a part of our foster program, Velvet is thoroughly loved and enjoyed by her family (especially her kids!) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Velvet's motherline has proven longevity with sound temperaments. Her mother is a therapy dog (BH AD TDI CGC CGCA IT) as well as her grandmother (V Z'Flores Vom Mittelwest SCH2 AD CGC TDI). Regarding her fatherline, Velvet is daughter to our Finn who boasts an impressive lineage. Her paternal grandfather is VA Saabat von Aurelius SCHH3, IPO3! Her pedigree also includes notable dogs like VA1 Ober von Bad-Boll SCHH3 , 2X VA1(CN) V6 Dux de Intercanina SCHH3, VA (BSZS + B + I) Paer vom Hasenborn SCHH3 FH1, and VA3(A) Juri vom Schollweiher SCHH3 IPO3! Velvet's Hips are OFA-Good and Elbows are OFA-Normal

She also tested DNA CLEAR of the following known to effect German Shepherds:

  • MDR1 Drug Sensitivity
  • Scott Syndrome (a defect in platelet function leading to impaired secondary hemostasis)
  • Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (A disorder of white blood cells)
  • Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia A, (Blood clotting disorder)
  • Hyperuricosuria and Hyperuricemia or Urolithiasis (Causes kidney and bladder stones composed of urate)
  • Sly Syndrome (A type of lysosomal storage disease)
  • Achromatopsia (a progressive disorder of the retina)
  • Renal Cystadenocarcinoma and Nodular Dermatofibrosis (A multiorgan syndrome)
  • X-linked Ectodermal Dysplasia Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia (a developmental condition)

She tested as carrier for only one out of the 170+ genetic conditions tested. She is Degenerative Myelopathy N/A—so she will only be paired with studs that are tested DM N/N “clear” and none of her puppies will ever be at risk. This is why we test! We’re thankful that these tests are available to us and also very thankful for the ongoing research that will continue to aid our program.None of Velvet's puppies will have two abnormal genes and therefore be considered “at risk” for any of the above.

Velvet's Past Pups

Velvet & VA2 (NASS) Ricco Von Der Zenteiche Sch3 Kkl1 Litter Review

Velvet produced pups of a therapy-type temperament similar to herself and her father, Finn. Most had medium drive, with a small percentage on both ends being a bit higher or a bit lower in drive. Pups were brave and intelligent, uniform in conformation with thick bone and above-average size, strong, rich red and black, 3 stock and 2 long coats.

They acclimated well into their new family homes and are thriving.
