SG Arwen Evenstar von Euro Deja
Arwen is an absolutely gorgeous long coat with the deepest mahogany red you can find in the breed today. She has a beautiful black mask for our black mask lovers, her conformation is strong with a nice topline and strong hocks, she has powerful and smooth movement, alongside athleticism and bravery to launch into any given situation. She's a very lovey girl with a lot of drive but a solid off-switch that developed after maturity. We anticipate her puppies to be excellent service dog candidates. This has already been the case for one of her pups from her first litter, who is currently in training to become a certified Service Dog.
Arwen carries a great weight and meaning for our program in evaluation of her family tree. We bred Arwen's Grandmother Gwen to our Finn. Out of that pairing, we kept Vera. These are some clearest minded shepherds you could ever meet. Vera produced Arwen from her 2nd litter, when bred to V Digger v Edelweiss IPO2 Kkl. The family tree is what creates the dog, so we go into detail. These names don't hold as much meaning to newcomers, but for many years, Gwen and Finn were the most popular dogs in our program for good reason. *Certified* Therapy Dog Finn (click for photos, videos, and info) has 2 completely maxed out highlights on our @eurodejashepherds instagram page "Finn1" and "Finn2" (over 200 entries between the two showing his character, etc) and so you can go see the dog that backs Arwen with his genetics. He's been nicknamed "Famous Finn" by many an admiring client who has gotten his coveted pups. He's now 12 years young (2026 at time of writing this) and lives with us in his retirement, continuing to socialize our puppies, and providing joy every day. He's the most darling, most balanced, and impressive German Shepherd you could ever meet. Finn is son of the famed VA Saabat.
Gwen is 11 years young at the time of writing this, and lives with Arwen's mother Vera, as well as Arwen herself (3 generations of girls). Gwen is daughter of VA2 Ricco v.d. Zenteiche thus Gwen's Grandfather is legendary 2x world champ Vegas du haut Mansard.
This motherline in particular was established by a veterinarian (now retired from breeding) for over 30 years--Gwen was her 7th generation. These dogs displayed healthy longevity (14 to nearly 15 years of age with good care), with some of the best temperaments a person could ask for alongside strongest anatomy that is beyond difficult to find today.
We chose to breed Digger to Vera to produce Arwen, seeing his potential. We loved his strong healthy lineage, his low ZW score of 71, his proven working ability even under highest pressure at world competition, his solid nerves, his high intelligence, absolutely correct anatomy, and the list goes on. After we bred Vera to Digger and kept Arwen, Digger's son Zet went on to place 2nd at BSZS! This further proved Digger's producing ability.
Then, Digger himself was called out as one of the best examples of a German Shepherd in the world by none other than Louis Donald during an interview with Ivan Balabanov. Ivan being one of the world's top trainers, and Louis being the world's foremost GSD breed expert in current times, author of the Definitive German Shepherd Dog.
We evaluated our Vera/Digger litter as they grew, and finalized our selection after temperament testing that Arwen was our select keeper pup out of the litter.

Arwen’s hips are OFA Good and elbows OFA normal.

Furthermore from this link, you can see that at 8 years of age, Arwen's sire Digger Edelweiss was also xrayed again for OFA and likewise received OFA Good/Normal results. The joints in this family line are strong, and the strength of Digger's joints despite age and the usual normal degradation by 8 years of age after many years of working and showing nationally and internationally is worth noting as a testimony of exceptional longevity.From Arwen's Embark Panel, she also tested DNA CLEAR of ALL the following known to effect German Shepherds:
- Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
- MDR1 Drug Sensitivity
- Scott Syndrome (a defect in platelet function leading to impaired secondary hemostasis)
- Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (A disorder of white blood cells)
- Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia A, (Blood clotting disorder)
- Hyperuricosuria and Hyperuricemia or Urolithiasis (Causes kidney and bladder stones composed of urate)
- Sly Syndrome (A type of lysosomal storage disease)
- Achromatopsia (a progressive disorder of the retina)
- Renal Cystadenocarcinoma and Nodular Dermatofibrosis (A multiorgan syndrome)
- X-linked Ectodermal Dysplasia Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia (a developmental condition)
None of Arwen's puppies will have two abnormal genes and therefore be considered “at risk” for any of the above.
